Building Life Goals

Building Life Goals & Momentum

1. Consider core life areas

Assess what is important to you & your future lifestyle. Break these into core areas (eg, relationships, leisure, career, finance, health).

2. Write down your goals

“The act of writing down a goal is an action. The moment that you go from an idea to an action, you are more likely to take additional actions in the service of your goals.” Ben Michaelis, PhD

3. S.M.A.R.T

Start by having general goals (or mission statements) for each core area. Then break them down into more detailed goals. Make them specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time limited.

4. Meditate

Sit back and imagine your aspirations are achieved. How does it look? How does it feel? How does it smell? How does it sound?

Using your senses to imagine life with your goals achieved, is a great motivational tool that reminds you of why you are following this path.

5. Reflect

There is no point having goals if you file them away. You will benefit from regularly reading and reviewing them. Make edits, enhance, & visualise. Do this before bed and at least every couple of days.
