Medicare Rebate Eligibility:

Medicare offers rebates for Psychological therapy services when you have an eligible GP Mental Health Treatment Plan prepared by a GP. A referral under a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan entitles you to receive up to 10 Medicare rebates for psychological therapy sessions every calendar year (January to December).

Ensuring you have your GP Mental Health Treatment Plan referral in place, and bringing this letter to your Psychologist appointment, will allow us to process any eligible rebates with our Medicare EasyClaims terminal.

You can visit your GP (General Practitioner) and explain your mental health concerns to obtain a referral under a ‘GPMHTP’. Please note some doctors refer to this plan as a GP Mental Health Care Plan. It is polite to book a long consultation with your GP by letting the GP’s reception know. This ensures the GP has set aside enough time to develop the plan (it may take up to 20-30 minutes depending on how familiar they are with your situation).

If you do not have a regular GP, & would like a recommendation on GP’s who are familiar with these plans, please feel free to contact us.

You can book your psychologist appointment now but it is essential you bring your referral letter from your GP so we can process your rebate. You must also bring both your Medicare card and your Eftpos/Savings account card to allow us to submit your Medicare claim straight back into your Savings/Cheque account. Otherwise, you will be issued with a receipt and you will need to claim any rebates directly with Medicare.

Private Health Fund Rebates

Our Psychologists are registered with all major health insurers. If you have private health fund extras, check with your fund for rebate entitlements for Psychological services. We can process your claims using our HICAPS terminal or we can issue you a receipt to take to your fund.
