What Should I Expect?
You will experience what is known as traditional ‘talking therapy’, where it may seem like we are just having a conversation, but behind the scenes is the working of the therapist expertise in assessment, human nature/behaviour, and a variety of empirically validated approaches and techniques. Together the psychologist will work with you to fully understand your issues/concerns & to provide approaches/techniques to work toward positive lasting changes. You are encouraged to be part of your progress. You may be asked to complete tasks outside of the office including thought diaries, behaviour diaries, behavioural experiments, and implementation of positive behaviour and cognitive changes. Don’t worry if you don’t like doing ‘homework’, it is not necessary for all situations.
